Dr. Holly Schmitt
Dr. Holly Schmitt grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and decided at approximately age 5 that she wanted to be a veterinarian. Holly attended Denison University in Granville, Ohio and received a BS in biology while running varsity track and cross country. After graduating from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005, she completed an ambulatory internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Kentucky and was then asked to stay at Hagyard to work in the Sport Horse department. In her first year as an associate, she attended the Chi Institute and became certified in veterinary acupuncture. While with Hagyard, Holly worked in Thermal, California, Traverse City, Michigan, and Lexington, Kentucky as the official horse show veterinarian for five years. She enjoyed the challenge of diagnosing lameness, and utilized acupuncture along with cutting edge therapies to help keep her high performance athletes in the ring. In December 2010, Holly left Hagyard to work for Farmvet while continuing her work as an acupuncturist. Holly decided to begin practicing on her own in the spring of 2012. In 2014, she reunited with Dr. Heather Woodruff, one of her colleagues from Hagyard, and together they formed Foxwood Equine Sports Medicine. Outside of work, Holly enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering her time to the Secretariat Center, competing in the jumpers, and practicing yoga.
Dr. Heather Woodruff
Dr. Heather Woodruff grew up in a small town in Central Vermont. She started riding at a young age and showed in 4-H, Hunter/Jumpers, Eventing and even one (seemingly) long endurance ride! She completed her undergraduate degree at University of New Hampshire with a BS in Zoology. When she had the realization that ‘saving the elephants’ was not really a valid career path, her thoughts turned to medicine. Veterinary medicine felt like an obvious choice due to her passion for animals, and in 2009 she graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. With her graduation, she became the 5th Dr. Woodruff in her family.
After graduation, Dr. Heather completed a one-year internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in the Sports Medicine department. She then stayed on as an Associate Veterinarian for 3 more years, where she focused on lameness, diagnostics and received her acupuncture certification. In 2014, after lots of discussion, planning and a few glasses of wine, she and Dr. Holly started Foxwood Equine Sports Medicine. Some career highlights have included working at the 2010 World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Lexington, Kentucky, and 2018 WEG in Tryon, North Carolina. She also enjoys volunteering at Rolex (now Land Rover) Three Day Event each year.
When not working or playing with barn cats, Dr. Heather can be found at home, spending time with her husband and two small sons. She loves to travel, garden and read. Once her sons are a little older, she hopes to revisit her love of riding, and has aspirations of competing again soon.
Dr. Hannah Jarvis
Dr. Hannah Jarvis grew up riding horses in San Diego, California. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and Management, and an English minor from the University of California, Davis. During college, she actively rode on the dressage and eventing teams while serving on the United States Pony Club’s National Youth Board. This lead to a few years of working for FEI dressage, jumper and eventing trainers in California. During this time, she also worked as a veterinary technician at several clinics, including as a lead technician for the U.C. Davis Equine Surgery and Lameness service for two years.
In 2021, Dr. Jarvis graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts and spent her clinical year at the University of Florida. While living abroad in the Caribbean, Dr. Jarvis completed her acupuncture training and was awarded the first TCVM Ambassador Scholarship for her work in bringing Chi University’s acupuncture curriculum to Ross’ veterinary students.
Following graduation, Dr. Jarvis gained extensive experience working with elite sport horses during her internship at Virginia Equine Imaging in Middleburg, VA and in Wellington, FL. During her internship, she became an FEI permitted treating veterinarian as well as an enthusiastic member of ISELP.
Her primary professional interests include lameness, diagnostic imaging, orthobiologics and integrative medicine.
In her free time, Dr. Jarvis enjoys riding, snorkeling, exploring nature, practicing yoga, eating tacos and spending time with her friends, family, and animals.
Shelby Davidson
Shelby is from a small town outside Lousiville, KY and fell in love with horses at a young age. She grew up riding hunter/jumpers and mounted games, then dressage in college. Shelby graduated from Murray State University in 2021 where she majored in Equine Science. After school, she participated in an internship at KESMARC, which is how she met Drs Holly and Heather. She joined the practice in 2022 soon after the completion of her internship.
When she’s not at work, you can find Shelby going for a stroll with her dog, Roper, out hiking, or catching up with friends.
Stephanie Radloff
Stephanie grew up in Farmington Hills, Michigan and graduated from The University of Findlay in 2019 with a BA in Communications and an AA in Equine Studies. Thanks to a summer at Girl Scout camp, Stephanie has loved horses for her entire life. She dabbled in many disciplines before falling in love with dressage, which is where she was introduced to sport horse medicine.
Stephanie joined the practice in 2020 and has soft spot for cuddling with patients during their acupuncture therapy. Currently, Stephanie is enrolled in Ashworth College’s Veterinary Technician program and is expected to be fully licensed technician in Spring of 2024. When she’s not working or studying, you can find her exploring a new hiking trail, trying a new brewery, or reading a good book by the lake.
